Chargers’ Absolutely Sensational 2023 Schedule Announcement Stole the Show Thursday
With every NFL schedule release comes a debate from fans over which team had the most creative and memorable drop on social media. And, for the second offseason in a row, that title appears to be headed back to the Chargers, thanks to their incredible follow-up to last year’s show-stealing reveal.
Thursday’s 2023 schedule release day saw the Chargers unveil next season’s slate of action via an anime-inspired video poking fun at their opponents. Much like the 2022 version, L.A.’s social media team made sure to pack the amusing clip with plenty of references to an array of NFL figures that will require multiple viewings.
Titans running back Derrick Henry, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, along with a hilarious callback to his “beef” with Spongebob’s Patrick Star, were among several stars who received the anime treatment. The Chargers also spoofed coaches Bill Belichick (Patriots), Mike McDaniel (Dolphins) and Josh McDaniels (Raiders), and even included a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Lions’ gambling controversy.
Judging by the response online, the Chargers seemed to be the clear-cut favorite for best drop of the day, which could be more than enough to inspire the team to make a Part 3 in 2024. As of Thursday night, the tweet has garnered more than seven million views and over 45,000 likes.
