Taylor Swift Confirmed Her Eagles Fandom in Philadelphia Friday
Some musicians wear their sports fandom on their sleeve. Drake pretty much came of age with the Raptors' fortunes. Eddie Vedder has made little secret of his affection for the Cubs. OutKast pretty much cornered the market on Braves jerseys in the '00s. And so on.
Taylor Swift, however, has opted to play her sports allegiances closer to the vest. Until now.
At her show in Philadelphia Friday night, the singer-songwriter and West Reading, Pa. native confirmed that she is a fan of the Eagles.
“I did see the debate about—I have a lyric that says, ‘With my Eagles t-shirt hanging from the door,’” Swift told her audience, referencing the song “Gold Rush” from 2020’s Evermore. "I saw some people wondering if it was the band the Eagles or the team the Eagles and I love the band the Eagles. But guys, come on. I'm from Philly. Of course it's the team."
There you have it. Whether this will cause friction with collaborators such as Justin Vernon, a Packers fan, remains to be seen.
