The Portland Sea Dogs, the Red Sox’s Double A affiliate, paid homage to one of their alternate team names over the weekend by attempting to set a Guinness world record.

As the team played for the fourth time in recent years as the Maine Whoopie Pies on Friday night, it was only fitting that the team try to set a record for the longest line of whoopie pies. There is no official previous record holder for this category.

Regardless, the team lined up 2,129 whoopie pies to reach a distance of 665 feet. An image of a giant whoopie pie ultimately was created as well.

The Sea Dogs sent evidence of the feat to Guinness World Records and are now waiting for official certification.

The whoopie pie, a dessert with two chocolate cake pieces filled with a cream center, has been known as the official treat of Maine since 2011.
