Cristiano Ronaldo Did His Iconic Goal Celebration With a Pitch Invader

A Cristiano Ronaldo supporter invaded the pitch during Portugal’s Euro qualification matchup against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday and shared a touching moment with his soccer hero.

The fan, who held a Portugal flag in his hand, raced onto the pitch and hugged Ronaldo, managing to lift him up in the process. The individual even got the 38-year-old star to participate in one of his iconic goalscoring celebrations before security arrived on the scene.

The crowd erupted after the fan, who proceeded to dart away from security immediately after, and Ronaldo could be seen doing the forward’s world-renowned celebratory move.

Playing in front of its home crowd at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Portugal won Saturday’s match, 3–0, courtesy of a goal from Bernardo Silva and a brace from Bruno Fernandes. Ronaldo played 90 minutes and did not score, but he did provide the overeager supporter with the encounter of a lifetime and a bit of face-to-face time.

The victory saw Portugal maintain its place atop Group J of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Thus far, the team has scored 13 goals and has yet to concede one across three games.

Portugal plays Iceland on June 20 in its next match.
