Russell Wilson’s Unorthodox Workout Session Caught the Attention of NFL Fans

Though it’s never hosted the Winter Olympics, Colorado is commonly recognized as America’s premier winter sports state, between the U.S. Olympic Committee's presence in Colorado Springs and the bevy of ski resorts in and around Aspen and Vail.

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson seems to have taken his new home’s reputation as a dare, in a way only he can.

Saturday afternoon, Wilson tweeted a video in which he participated in several workouts usually geared toward ice-based sports, such as hockey and speed skating. These included catching a football while sliding back and forth on a sheet of ice.

“All my life,” Wilson tweeted, along with the hashtag #RestorationSZN.

Wilson’s workouts drew curiosity and comment from NFL fans across the country.

Of course, this included a bevy of “Broncos country, let’s ride!” jokes.

Frozone, Samuel L. Jackson’s wintry superhero in The Incredibles, got a shout.

Even Denver loyalists conceded that Wilson might be mocked.

Some wondered whether Wilson was merely embracing the future.

Many fans just cringed.

With the worst season of his career in the rearview mirror, it’s clear Wilson has a long road to winning back the goodwill associated with his Seahawks days.
