It’s seemingly a foregone conclusion that French sensation Victor Wembanyama will be the Spurs’ selection with the No. 1 pick in Thursday’s NBA draft.

That said, one sports bettor is taking things to the extreme, placing a massive bet at ridiculous odds that Wembanyama will indeed come off the board first. Per The Action Network, the bettor put $60,000 on Wembanyama to go first overall at -20000 odds on Draftkings Sportsbook. If it wins, the bet will pay out just $300.

On one hand, there really seems to be no drama with the Spurs’ selection. Wembanyama has already been signing San Antonio jerseys with his name on it while completing his season in France, and the Spurs have reportedly shut down any team attempting to trade up for the pick. This is about as much of a lock as any bet could be. Still, a bettor risking all that for $300 might be too risky for some to swallow.

Fans were split on the wild wager.

Is this one worth the risk? If nothing else, this bettor will have a bit more to sweat on draft night than your average fan.
