It’s not everyday that Stephen Curry sees one of his three-point shooting records fall, but on Friday, the Warriors star saw one of his marks go down at the hands of Liberty sensation Sabrina Ionescu.

Taking to the court in Las Vegas on Friday for the WNBA’s three-point contest, Ionescu turned in the best-ever performance in the competition by a WNBA or NBA player. After missing her first shot in the final round, the 25-year-old quickly righted the ship and made 25 of her final 26 attempts, including a stretch of 20 straight makes. She finished with 37 points, shattering the previously held record of 31 from Curry and Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton

Ionescu’s performance set the basketball world aflame and even Curry had to dish out some public props to the New York sharpshooter after her historic performance.

It’s hard to imagine any higher praise than that from the greatest shooter in NBA history.

Friday’s victory in the three-point contest is just the latest accolade for Ionescu, the 2020 No. 1 pick and a two-time All-Star, to add to her résumé. Next up for the Liberty star will be Saturday’s All-Star Game where she will come off the bench for the squad captained by New York teammate Breanna Stewart.
