After trailing for much of the game, the U.S. captain came through, and fans were ecstatic.
The USWNT found itself trailing midway through the second half of its critical World Cup group stage match against the Netherlands.
After Jill Roord’s 17th-minute goal gave the Oranje an early lead, the United States were looking for any way to get back into the game. Opportunity struck in the 62nd minute as Lindsey Horan managed to get her head on a corner kick, beating the Dutch keeper in order to equalize.
It was a critical goal as the two sides battle it out for the top spot in Group E, and fans back home were absolutely thrilled after watching the team trail for much of the game.
