A birthday may be a special celebration, but it doesn’t stop from business being conducted. Just ask linebacker Jonathan Garvin about that.

Friday marked Garvin’s 24th birthday, and the Packers wished their linebacker a Happy Birthday with a tweet in the morning to mark the occasion. However, the show still goes on, as coach Matt LaFleur told reporters at his press conference that Green Bay released Garvin from the team just three hours after the social media account sent the birthday tweet.

Once fans noticed what Green Bay did, they sounded off on the decision to let Garvin go on his day of celebration.

The Packers took Garvin in the seventh round of the 2020 draft out of Miami, and the linebacker spent the past three seasons on the Green Bay roster. In his career, Garvin has played in 38 games, including one start, while totaling 32 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
