Villanova’s Hausen Drills 48-Straight Threes in Steph Curry-Like Shooting Display
Under Jay Wright, Villanova basketball not only entered the conversation as a “Blue Blood” program by winning two national championships, but they also developed a plethora of current NBA talent such as Jalen Brunson, Kyle Lowry, Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo and Mikal Bridges.
From a viral video on social media, it appears that the Wildcats have yet another emerging sharp-shooting talent that will be unleashed on the collegiate scene this season and beyond.
Meet 6’ 4” sophomore shooting guard Brendan Hausen, nicknamed “The Amarillo Assassin,” after dominating the high school basketball landscape in the state of Texas.
Hausen, who averaged just 8.9 minutes in his freshman campaign last season, appears destined to make an impact on the Main Line in 2023 if the shooting display he posted on Twitter is any indication.
In his limited time in 2022, Hausen shot 42.9% from beyond the arc (27-for-63), but with Cam Whitmore and Caleb Daniels now in the NBA, more minutes are now available in the Villanova backcourt.
Coach Kyle Neptune is on the record calling Hausen “one of the best shooters we’ve ever had at Villanova.”
In the video posted to his social media page, Hausen backed up his coach's words by draining 48 consecutive corner three-pointers that would make the NBA’s best three-point shooter Stephen Curry proud.
While many players struggled to successfully hit 48 straight free throws, this kind of shooting performance from deep, even unguarded, is simply incredible.
Hausen later stated that he actually successfully attempted and made 70 consecutive three’s, but due to upload constraints, only a portion of the video was shared.
