The Mets have been a disaster this season and the franchise basically threw in the towel on the 2023 season with a number of moves, including sending Justin Verlander to Houston, before Tuesday’s trade deadline

They then finished off their brutal day by losing to the Royals in the most Mets way possible–a walk-off balk in the bottom of the 10th inning. 

Josh Walker seemed to buckle his left knee a little bit with the bases loaded. He tried to play it off like he was having issues with his PitchCom but the umps talked it over and called it a balk, giving the Royals a 7–6 win.

Walker said after: “Just a different game with the PitchCom now and trying to go in without it. I forgot to relay that to [catcher Francisco Álvarez], that’s on me.”
