A Trip Down Memory Lane on Tom Brady’s 46th Birthday
1. The greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady, turns 46 years old today. Internet Law says you are supposed to celebrate birthdays ending in only a 0 or 5. I say bulls---. When it comes to the GOAT, you celebrate all birthdays.
So in honor of the occasion, I wanted to look back at some of Brady’s most memorable moments from a variety of occasions.
What I found in putting this piece together was just how much stuff Brady has done over the years.
This includes a 2012 interview with yours truly that is surreal for me to look back at now. Especially this exchange:
Jimmy Traina: Is there anything bad about being married to a supermodel?
Tom Brady: [Laughs, followed by long pause.] Um, it’s a marriage, so I have a life partner. Like most marriages, there’s a lot of give and take.
JT: You mentioned you have two kids. There are rumors that you guys are having a third. I don’t know if you want to get into that or not.
TB: I like working on it.
Some of the videos included below won’t show up for you here because the NFL hates its fans, and they want you to go to YouTube to watch the video, so I apologize for that.

So without further ado, here's a trip down Tom Brady memory lane featuring his best moments on and off the field.
• The very beginning of Brady’s NFL career—the 2000 Hall of Fame game.
• In 2015, Brady not only caught a pass but he also showed off his wheels.
• And, of course, Brady dropped a pass in Super Bowl LII.
• In 2001, Brady tried to scramble and ended up taking one of the hardest hits you’ll ever see (with no penalty flag being thrown back then) and got right back up in an impressive display of toughness.
• In 2005, Brady hosted Saturday Night Live and appeared in this sketch that would never see the light of day today.
• in 2015, Brady had a memorable cameo in Ted 2.
• Brady is so big he had his very own edition of Jimmy Kimmel’s “Mean Tweets.”
• In 2018, Brady went on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and put the TB12 Method on hold to chug an entire beer.
• One of Brady’s earliest comedic performances came in 2012 when he did this sketch for “Funny or Die.”
• In 2011, Brady was an early victim of people having camera phones and filming everything when he was caught dancing at Carnival in Brazil.
• Brady’s dancing skills improved over the years, as we saw in 2017.
• And in 2021, we were treated to Drunk Tom Brady.
• 2021 also saw Brady bust out political jokes.
2. A brand-new SI Media With Jimmy Traina podcast dropped today, and it features an interview with Chris “Mad Dog” Russo.
The radio Hall of Famer talks about his future on SiriusXM and what his plans are for when his contract runs out after the Super Bowl. He also discusses that viral interview with Joey Votto, the most influential people in sports media, ESPN firing Jeff Van Gundy, the state of the Yankees, why he hated Netflix’s Quarterback and much more.
You can listen to the podcast below or download it on Apple, Spotify and Google.
You can also watch SI Media With Jimmy Traina on YouTube.
3. Speaking of Russo ...
"You can eat all the rice, you can eat all the carrots and drink all the herbal tea you want, you are woefully, woefully out of shape. And you are heavy."
That was Mad Dog speaking about Stephen A. Smith on Wednesday’s First Take while referencing these photos of the ESPN talk-show host.
Russo’s berating of Smith’s physique to Stephen A. and cohost Molly Qerim doing push-ups on the air.
4. Sure, college sports are corrupt and shady and slimy, but it was still highly amusing to see the wholesome reaction of Michigan State’s football players when they got their first look at their new state-of-the-art locker room.
5. I wrote about Iowa State quarterback Hunter Dekkers being accused of wagering on his own team in Wednesday’s Traina Thoughts.
The story has now taken another turn. The complaint against Dekkers states that it was his parents that helped him place the bets.
“Dekkers participated in a scheme with his parents, Scott Dekkers and Jami Dekkers, to conceal his online gambling and made it appear that bets placed by Hunter Dekkers were made by Jami Dekkers,” the complaint said.
I shared my feelings about this story on Twitter last night.
6. I published a new edition of my SI Media Mailbag this morning. Topics covered this week include what the Yankees should say to Brian Cashman, the Pat McAfee–ESPN marriage, Doc Rivers replacing Jeff Van Gundy, hazing, The O.C. and more.
7. RANDOM VIDEO OF THE DAY: In addition to Brady, Metallica’s James Hetfield is also celebrating a birthday today. In honor of the occasion, we remember a very cool moment from 2013 when Metallica performed on the field at Yankee Stadium for Mariano Rivera Day.
