As a seven-year NFL veteran, Carson Wentz has lived many lives as he enters his age-31 season. And, with the free-agent quarterback still searching for his next opportunity, Wentz appears to be drawing from his past as a source of inspiration.

On Sunday, the former Eagles, Colts and Commanders QB, as players often do, showed off his offseason preparation on Instagram courtesy of a post featuring several photos from a recent workout.

The only thing is, Wentz’s photos seemed to attract interest around social media not because of his free-agent status but his unique uniform, comprised of his Eagles helmet, Commanders practice jersey and Colts practice shorts.

Needless to say, even Wentz, who spent the 2022 season with Washington, seemed to realize the look took the definition of “alternate uniforms” to a whole new level.

“Back in the lab ... just looks a little different so far this year 🙃 #alternateuniforms #trainingcamp2023,” wrote Wentz in the caption.

With teams constantly keeping their options open, it’s possible Wentz, the No. 2 pick by Philadelphia in 2016, could find himself on a new team by the start of the '23 season.

In the meantime, though, the photos of Wentz’s “throwback” uniform—and the memories associated with each item—should do more than enough in the way of keeping his name relevant, for better or worse.

After getting traded from the Colts following a one-year stint, Wentz started Weeks 1–6 for the Commanders before suffering a fractured finger that limited him to two games for the rest of the year. He finished the campaign with 1,755 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
