Carson Wentz Posted a Bizarre Photo, Which Led to Some Great Responses

Also in Traina Thoughts: Matt Olson leaves fan in stunned disbelief; ‘SummerSlam’ was a massive success for WWE; happy birthday, Lee Corso and more.

1. Quarterback Carson Wentz is without a team as the 2023 season approaches. However, he is still doing his best to stay sharp and keep in shape. And he’s doing so while repping all of his past teams.

On Sunday, Wentz took to Instagram to share a photo in which he’s wearing an Eagles helmet, a Commanders jersey and Colts shorts.

I'm not sure reminding a potential future employer of your past flops is a smart move, but we need to thank Wentz for the content because some people had truly fantastic responses to the photo.

2. If you somehow missed it over the weekend, Guardians radio play-by-play guy Tom Hamilton had a PHENOMENAL call of the fight between José Ramírez and Tim Anderson.

3. I never thought I’d write this sentence about an NFL player, but former Packers and Giants linebacker Blake Martinez has been banned by one trading marketplace company from selling Pokémon cards after he allegedly scammed purchasers.

4. Braves slugger Matt Olson hit one of the more majestic home runs you’ll see on Sunday in Atlanta’s loss to the Cubs.

The blast left this young fan behind home plate in complete disbelief.

5. SummerSlam was a massive success for the WWE on Saturday.

The company announced that the event, which took place at Ford Field in Detroit, was the most-watched and highest-grossing SummerSlam in WWE history.

The 59,194 in attendance generated a record gate of $8.5 million, the largest gate for any non-WrestleMania event ever. It was also the most-watched SummerSlam in company history and among the top three audiences in the history of WWE on Peacock.

6. The latest SI Media With Jimmy Traina podcast features an interview with Chris “Mad Dog” Russo.

Before I get to that, I made the trip to Russo’s SiriusXM show last Friday at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como, N.J. At one point, Doggie hit the stage for a song and, well, this was the result.

As for the podcast, the radio Hall of Famer talks about his future on SiriusXM and what his plans are for when his contract runs out after the Super Bowl. He also discusses that viral interview with Joey Votto, the most influential people in sports media, ESPN firing Jeff Van Gundy, the state of the Yankees, why he hated Netflix’s Quarterback and much more.

Following Russo is my weekly “Traina Thoughts” segment with Sal Licata. This week, we discuss a big milestone for SI Media With Jimmy Traina, the passing of Paul Reubens, Sean Payton’s comments about the Jets and Nathaniel Hackett, cord cutting, horse racing and much more.

You can listen to the podcast below or download it on Apple, Spotify and Google.
