In this story:

The college football world is still reeling after last week’s realignment that brought an end to the Pac-12, as reactions continue to pour in from across the sport. That includes those from SEC country, which did not play a direct hand in picking apart the Pac-12 but, as the preeminent league in the sport, certainly bears some responsibility for the game’s current landscape.

Which is partly why, when Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher offered his thoughts on the situation on Sunday, Twitter came back with more than a few jokes at his expense.

When asked about conference realignment, Fisher responded: “Unfortunately, we’re in a time now that everybody is fighting over the dollar.”

The irony of that comment was apparently lost on the 57-year-old coach, who makes over $9 million per year and whose current school fled the Big 12 for the SEC just over a decade ago. Fisher is the eighth-highest-paid coach in college football going into the season, and certainly has been quite successful in his fight over the dollar during his head coaching career that’s taken him from Florida State to Texas A&M—a move that secured Fisher a massive raise back in 2018.

Fans on Twitter, however, had plenty to say in the wake of Fisher’s remarks. Check out the best of the bunch below.
