You just don’t know what you’re going to see when you go to the ballpark.

In this story:

No trip to Oriole Park at Camden Yards is complete without a stop at Boog’s BBQ. Owned by Orioles Hall of Famer and former All-Star first baseman Boog Powell, the establishment is located on Eutaw Street behind right field and is a popular destination through Orioles home games.

And, as the baseball gods would have it, Thursday’s game against the Astros featured a divine meeting between a foul ball and BBQ sauce.

During the bottom of the fourth inning, left fielder Ryan O’Hearn fouled a ball into the stands down the right field line. After taking a deflection or two, the ball settled in a most unusual place directly into the food tray of an unsuspecting fan.

The result? A sauced-stained souvenir and a moment that will live on for ages.

Despite urging from the broadcast booth to lick the sauce off the ball, the fan resisted, missing an opportunity to seize what would have been an all-time foul ball moment. Instead, he’ll settle for a sturdy round of applause—and, hopefully, a complimentary replacement tray of BBQ.
