At first glance, it appears that Derek Carr is fitting in well with the Saints and loving his new home in New Orleans.

Carr signed a four-year deal with the Saints in March after visiting with several teams following a rocky end to his tenure with the Raiders last season. After spending all of his first nine NFL seasons with the franchise, Carr is taking advantage of his fresh start in New Orleans, especially when it comes to physical stature.

The Saints posted a picture of the four-time Pro Bowler with the ball in his hands as he seeks to make a play during the team’s training camp practice. But in the process, it’s hard not to notice the additional muscle mass on Carr.

It is worth noting that Carr is not the biggest or tallest quarterback in the league, standing at 6’3” and weighing in at 210 pounds. For comparison, some of the league’s heaviest signal callers include veteran quarterbacks Joe Flacco (weighing in at 245), Nick Foles (262), Carson Wentz (237) Cowboys’s Dak Prescott (238) and Bills signal-caller Josh Allen (237).

But when looking at the current picture of Carr, the 32-year-old has certainly bulked up ahead of the ’23 season. Carr will seek to put the Saints back in position to hopefully become the NFC South's marquee team once again while also hoping to lead the franchise to a postseason appearance.

New Orleans missed the playoffs in each of its last two seasons due to injuries and inconsistent play at quarterback. The Saints will begin preseason action on Sunday against the Chiefs
