White Sox Appear to Omit Keynan Middleton’s Name From Stadium Scoreboard

Middleton’s name wasn’t featured on the White Sox’ scoreboard Wednesday following his comments about the team’s culture.

Keynan Middleton’s exit from the White Sox stirred up some controversy as the reliever, who was dealt to the Yankees at the MLB trade deadline, ripped his former team for its “no rules” culture. And it appears there’s some ill will over his comments in Chicago.

Middleton made a relief appearance against Chicago on Wednesday when New York visited Guaranteed Rate Field. When he took the mound, it appears the White Sox did not list his name on the scoreboard at the stadium. 

Footage from the game posted to Twitter shows a blank space on the scoreboard where the pitcher’s name is typically listed. Middleton pitched two innings in the game, and his name was omitted for the entirety of his outing.

The scoreboard showcased Middleton’s pitch count, and even the amount of balls and strikes he’d thrown. Despite displaying that information, his name never appeared on the screen.

Following Middleton’s initial comments, White Sox GM Rick Hahn issued a response in which he called the remarks “ironic” and claimed the 30-year-old reliever had apologized to him for “unprofessional behavior” just a week before the trade deadline.  

Middleton surrendered one run and struck out one batter in his two innings of work Wednesday. It was his third appearance in a Yankee uniform, and the first time he’d faced the White Sox since the trade less than two weeks earlier.
