Everyone’s Pronouncing Bijan Robinson’s Name Wrong, Including Bijan Robinson

Falcons rookie running back Bijan Robinson hilariously shared that even he mispronounces his own name, according to his mother.

NFL fans should make sure they know the name of Falcons rookie running back Bijan Robinson ahead of the 2023 season, especially those playing fantasy football.

The eighth pick of the 2023 NFL draft heads into his NFL rookie campaign fresh off an outstanding season rushing for 1,580 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns for Texas. When combining his rushing ability with his elusiveness in the passing game, it is clear why he is one of the leading contenders for this upcoming season’s NFL Rookie Offensive Player of the Year award.

While enjoying immense success up to this point of his young career, it appears there is one issue: the pronunciation of his is name.

The 21-year-old powerful back back hilariously revealed to reporters that he [along with the rest of the sports world] have been pronouncing your name incorrectly.

“How you pronounce my name is bih-ZHAN, like that’s how you say my name”, Robinson said, via Justin Felder of Fox 5 in Atlanta.

“But I say bee-ZHAN. I don’t know why I say that, like all my life I have said that and my mom was like, ‘Why do you say your name like that?’ I mean that’s just how everyone says it, but it doesn’t really affect me on how it’s said. If you guys [the media] want to say bih-ZHAN, go ahead, but if you guys want to say bee-ZHAN, I am cool with that too.”

However, if you do say bee-ZAHN, be prepared for his mom to take issue with it. 

“She might say something. … She called me the other day and was like, ‘These people are talking about you, and they say bee-ZHAN.’ And I was like, ‘What’s wrong with that? That’s what I say?’ And she’s like ’No!’” said a laughing Robinson.

Whether it’s bee-ZHAN or bih-ZHAN, football fans can be sure that they will hear the name often on Sundays.
