EA Sports’ “Madden” NFL video game has been one of the most popular sports video games for decades, drawing millions of players since its first release more than 30 years ago. Apparently, among those users is Dolphins star Tyreek Hill.

The seven-time Pro Bowler revealed Thursday that he plays the night before games in attempt “to get a tell” on the quality of opponent he’s expecting to face.

“I feel like Madden has a good tell [read] on how good players are, so I just play Madden the night before [NFL games] and I go look at all of their ratings,” said Hill. “For instance it has Steve Nelson and Derek Stingley Jr., two phenomenal players by the way, I just get on Madden and go to the EA rosters then I scroll down and see what their awareness is, their speed, and their strength, and that’s how I get a good tell on them."

While most players are required to watch opposing game film, it appears that the NFL’s second-leading receiving yards leader (1,710 yards) supplements actual game tape with the popular video game.

This admission by Hill, who has found extraordinary success, will likely leave sports fans (and potentially bettors) pondering if this could also be a successful approach to evaluate the matchups they’re about to watch on Sundays.
