Even as the Chiefs continue to bask in their Super Bowl LVII victory over the Eagles in February, one dark cloud remains over their title defense.

Kansas City is embroiled in a bitter contract dispute with defensive tackle undefined, a critical cog in the Chiefs’ machine over the past half-decade. Jones has yet to report to training camp on the heels of a season where he tied a career high with 15.5 sacks.

On Tuesday, a troll took aim at Jones for his holdout, calling him “an All-Pro on social media” and demanding to know when the Mississippi State product would be back.

“Week 8,” Jones replied.

If Jones sticks to his timetable and no progress is made, he would be in line to return on Oct. 29 against the Broncos. Jones is entering final year of a four-year, $80 million deal he signed in the summer of 2020.

With or without the heart and soul of their defense, Kansas City is scheduled to open 2023 on Sept. 7 against the Lions.
