The 2023 season for the Yankees has been a “disaster,” as general manager Brian Cashman called it recently, and fans saw that storyline continue during the first inning of New York’s game against the Rays on Sunday.

Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena singled to first while he was at bat, then two hitters later, he decided to steal second. Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka attempted to throw him out at second, but overshot the throw.

This gave Arozarena a chance to run to third, where the ball was then thrown to third baseman Oswald Peraza, who couldn’t get ahold of the ball.

Arozarena made it all the way to home to score the Rays’s first run of the game, all because the Yankees had two major throwing errors.
