Duke Professor Hilariously Denies QB’s Request for Homework Extension After Clemson Win

Despite leading the Blue Devils to an upset victory, the star signal-caller couldn’t pick up a second win in the classroom

After leading Duke to an impressive upset 28–7 victory over No. 9 Clemson on Monday night, quarterback Riley Leonard asked one of his professors if he could get an extension on a homework assignment that was due at midnight on Tuesday.

Leonard was hoping that his teacher would show leniency after the Blue Devils’ first win over a top-10 team since 1989. During a post-game on field interview, the talented dual-threat signal-caller pleaded for the extension since he had not completed the assignment.

“Professor Taylor, if you’re seeing this, please let me turn in my homework late because it was due tonight. I think at 12,” said Leonard.

On Tuesday afternoon, Professor Taylor issued an official response to the junior, though it surely wasn’t the answer the quarterback was hoping for.

“Hey Riley, great game last night, man it was so exciting. Congratulations to you and all your teammates,” Taylor said. “You know Wesley Williams and the other lineman who are in the class, they said they prepared ahead and did it ahead of time.

“So why didn't the quarterback? No way man. No extension.”

The junior quarterback easily deserved an extension on his homework assignment after helping the program end a 28-game losing streak to top-10 ranked opponents. As impressive as the win was, it apparently wasn’t enough to win over Professor Taylor.
