Baker Mayfield Ruthlessly Trash-Talked Vikings Defender After Big Stiff Arm
Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers to an upset win in Week 1 against the Vikings, and it seems he was letting Minnesota’s defense hear it throughout the game.
After taking off for a short run during Sunday’s tilt, Mayfield could be seen adding some extra yards with a big stiff arm on Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy Jr.
After finally getting wrestled to the ground, Mayfield popped back up to his feet and got into the face of Murphy before telling the 25-year-old defensive back that he needs to “get that weight up.”
“Get that weight up, little boy,” said Mayfield to Murphy before trotting back toward Tampa Bay’s huddle. “Get that f---ing weight up.”
Mayfield’s Buccaneers debut was full of energy, and that was on display during his short run. Despite not even picking up a first down, the former No. 1 pick was clearly fired up and ready to compete for every yard on Sunday.
Mayfield, who measures in at 6-1 and 209 pounds, had some blunt advice for the 5-11, 190-pound Murphy, confidently suggesting the cornerback adds some mass before attempting to bring him down.
The 28-year-old threw two touchdowns and completed 61.8% of his pass attempts in his franchise debut.
