Former Orlando Magic guard Nick Anderson had perhaps the strangest 50-point game in NBA history.

For starters, he did it against the New Jersey Nets off the bench in 33 minutes and did not play the fourth quarter. Secondly, it wasn't even the most-talked about effort in the game. That belonged to then-rookie teammate Shaquille O'Neal, who tore down the rim with a dunk

Still, Anderson's performance could not be ignored. He made 17 of 25 shots and was 12 of 12 from the free throw line.

“It kind of even shocked myself,” Anderson after the game that night. “I was in a zone. They were all going in and everybody was giving me the ball.”

Anderson remains one of only two reserves to score 50 points. The other is Jamal Crawford, who had 51 in 2019.
