Charles Barkley And Michael Jordan Have Yet To Mend Their Once Strong Friendship
There was a time NBA Hall of Famers Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan were best of friends.
During their playing days, it was often noted how they played golf together in the offseason. A disagreement has since severed their strong bond.
Barkley spoke of their falling out on a recent episode of 60 Minutes on CBS.
"Michael disagreed with somethin' I said, and he broke off the friendship," Barkley said.
The beef stems from Barkley suggesting Jordan wasn't ready for an executive role with the Charlotte Hornets. Jordan recently sold his share of the team he bought in 2019.
"And what I said, I think that he don't have enough people around him that are gonna tell him, 'No.' And he got really offended, and we haven't spoken," Barkley said to 60 Minutes' Jon Wertheim. "But, Jon, I really, I'm gonna do my job. Because, I have zero credibility if I criticize other people in the same boat and not criticize my best friend."
When asked if there was plan to resolve the issue, Barkley said: "He got my (phone) number."
"I got a ego, too, Jon," Barkley said with a laugh. "You can't be great at something ... that doesn't give you the right to be a jerk."
