NBA great Charles Barkley has often spoke his mind on a variety of topics throughout his playing career and as a TNT broadcaster.

So it came as no surprise when he teed off about the expensive price tag to attend Sunday's Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

The average ticket price was $8,600, with some going for nearly $40,000. Barkley gave his thoughts on high-priced event during an appearance on the NBA on TNT podcast.

“I don’t give a damn how much money you got. If you pay $44,000 to go to the Super Bowl, you a damn fool and an idiot,” Barkley said.

Barkley has rarely held back when it comes to opining on any subject. He has spoke his mind ever since appearing in a Nike commercial in the early 1990s about him refusing to be a role model to the younger generation. Since, he's grown more popular because of his strong opinions.

The fans at least got their money's worth. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 25-22, comeback victory in overtime. They won the championship for a second straight year. It was also their third title since 2020 in four Super Bowl appearances.

LeBron James, Draymond Green and rapper Jay-Z were among the dozens of the celebrities who attended the Super Bowl. Money was obviously a non-factor for them but the game was pretty much off limits for the average NFL fan.
