Jason Williams Fuels G.O.A.T Debate By Placing LeBron James Over Michael Jordan
When former point guard Jason Williams was in the NBA, he always went against the grain.
Apparently, he's the same way nowadays when talking his era of basketball. Williams grew up during the days Chicago Bulls guard Michael Jordan dominated the game.
Most from the 1980s and 1990s claim Jordan as the greatest player of all time. Not Williams.
During a recent appearance on the "Flagrant" podcast, Williams listed LeBron James as the best.
"I think LeBron is the best because he just makes everybody around him so much better," said Williams, who played from 1998-2010 under the nickname White Chocolate.
Without any disrespect toward Jordan, Williams said the difference was James' versatility.
"I think LeBron could lead the league in all five statistical categories, blocks, rebounds, assists, points [steals]," Williams said. "I don't know if MJ could've done that."
Williams also pointed out Jordan had Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, Dennis Rodman, Toni Kukoc as teammates and coach Phil Jackson for most of his career. James played on super teams later in his career but also took the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Finals with Boobie Gibson, Moe Williams and Anderson Varejao.
"You could put LeBron on any roster in the NBA, they go to the playoffs," Williams said.
This is a debate that will never end. It's just rare to see a player from Jordan's era side with James.
