New York Knicks Great John Starks Finally At Peace After Game 7 Of 1994 NBA Finals

Former New York Knicks guard John Starks had a tough time dealing with 2 of 18 performance in Game 7 of 1994 NBA Finals against the Houston Rockets

New York Knicks great John Starks had plenty memorable moments during his playing days.

He is, however, most remembered for his performance in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Houston Rockets. He shot 2 of 18 from the field in the deciding game. The Knicks lost the series 4-3.

Starks said it took him a while to get over it because of the stakes at the time.

"It took a while," Starks said. "You never get over it. You just kind of put it in a little box in your mind and keep it there. Playoffs come around, it starts to open up a little bit. As a player, you never forget that. I don't care what anybody says. When you have a moment like that, and I know a lot of guys had moments like that, let that destroy their lives and never recovered from it. You never forget about it."

Starks has since moved on from the performance. He has worked in community relations for the Knicks since 2004. He also owns a car dealership in Queens and does promotions for Thin Energy Hydrate.

The lone positive from the Finals was Starks starting to embrace golf. He said it was the perfect way for him to stop thinking about Game 7.

"That's when I picked up golf," Starks said. "It actually helped me. I was like, `get away from everything.' You're out there with nature ... It was tough. You put so much effort into everything having an opportunity to play for a championship and you get to that crowning moment and you don't get the job done. It was very difficult for me. Life goes on. You just have to live with those moments and try to get over it."
