Alphonzo Tuputala Reveals What Makes Jedd Fisch So Good For Washington
The Washington Huskies football team is entering the Big Ten conference in a big way, as they will now be led by head coach Jedd Fisch. Coach Fisch comes over from the Arizona Wildcats, where he led the team to an overall 10-3 record in the 2023 season, which includes an Alamo Bowl victory over Oklahoma.
Fisch left Arizona to become the head coach of the Washington Huskies under a seven-year contract. While time will tell if he can have the same success as he did in Arizona, he is already being praised by his players. Huskies linebacker Alphonzo Tuputula joined the Bow Down podcast to discuss what makes Fish different.
"I think it is attacking from all angles, whether it's nutrition, whether it's team bonding, whether it's finance, whatever you want to call it, Coach has done a great job just explaining it to us. You know, if you look at his resume, he's been in the league and has so much experience coaching, coaching with different, you know, top coaches like Bill Belichick and in other places."

Tuputula has praised Coach Fisch for getting the players ready in all aspects of life. While the focus is on football, it sounds like Washington's new head coach means to impart a ton of knowledge to his young players. Great coaches often know how to inspire their players on and off the field.
"But, you know, that's a good job that he does that because it shows, you know where this is where we want to be. This is the type of style that we want to be in the type of program we want to be in, and hopefully, we get there. So I'll be able to get that from him because personally, it's the first time I've seen an approach like this from any coach that I've been under."

Tuputula mentioned Bill Belichick in terms of how Coach Fisch approaches things. Belichick is one of the most disciplined coaches the NFL has ever seen, and Coach Fisch is operating on that same type of discipline.
Washington could be a team to look out for next season, especially if Coach Fisch's style works well with young and hungry players.
