Asante Samuel Believes Trey Lance is the Tough QB the Cowboys Need
The Dallas Cowboys may have their franchise QB in Dak Prescott, but he has come under some heavy scrutiny for never being able to win when it truly matters.
Under Prescott, the team has gone to the playoffs five years out of the eight that he has been a starting QB. To be fair, the 2020 season doesn't count due to Prescott's injury. Still, whatever Prescott is missing might have to do with his toughness.
On Say What Needs to Be Said, Asante Samuel breaks down why the Cowboys have Trey Lance, which is the winner the team will eventually need starting.
"I think this comes in the picture right now, why Trey Lance is a Dallas Cowboy. Dak Prescott is like Tua Tagovailoa to me. The nice guy. Donovan McNabb, the nice guy. In Dallas, in Miami...these are not ...go get you a C.J. Stroud, go get you a Brock Purdy. Somebody that knows how to win. Somebody that's going to lead the win."

Samuel has the same issues with Prescott that the entire NFL appears to have. No matter what his stats are every season, he can't seem to shake off the dreaded playoff play issues. Every year the Cowboys are competitive, but they fail to reach the big show.
"He throws for 4,500 yards, 4,300 yards. He's doing this thing, but it's not about the yards when you play quarterback. It's about a winner."

Samuel doubles down on Prescott's high stats, but his inability to win when it matters. The playoffs are the ultimate test of a team's prowess. Going undefeated in a season won't matter much unless the end result is a Super Bowl win.
Prescott's time could be running out in Dallas if he doesn't produce a Super Bowl appearance, leaving the door open for Trey Lance.
