Bilal Powell Says Jets “Defense Not the Problem”

Former Jets running back Bilal Powell speaks on the organization's issues, and fixing the offense.

The New York Jets were supposed to be an AFC powerhouse in 2023, but Aaron Rodgers sustained a season-ending injury in his first game with the team. It's a shame considering the defensive side of the ball is solid.

Former running back Bilal Powell and Rami Lavi spoke on Bleav Network's In Flight Snack about the organizational issues that the Jets are experiencing.

"You have three defense of pro bowlers. So the defense is not the problem. So for me, I think this is the easiest problem that you can fix when one side of the ball is already fixed or you don't have many. We know that we have to target the O-line. We have our quarterback go get one like is not how it's not like we had to come in and rebuild from the ground up."

The Jets may have secured a big get in Aaron Rodgers, but when he was injured—the team crumbled right after. A lot of that has to do with the offensive line, which needs to be patched up.

"There's just a couple pieces that we need to get right as an organization and everyone in our building is getting paid and all you have to do is your job to bring in the pieces to help this team win games and nest not put all our eggs in one basket with Aaron Rodgers again."

Rodgers may have a few seasons left in his career, but the Jets should be aiming to bring in a younger QB that could complement Rodgers should he get injured again. Even more important is the ability to pivot if he cannot perform the way the team needs him to.

The offensive line also needs to be addressed in the draft and free agency, otherwise, the defensive prowess of the team will be wasted once again.
