Cleveland Browns' Nick Chubb In Line For Some Major Year-End Hardware In 2024?
Four-time Pro Bowl Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb tore his MCL and damaged his ACL during a Week 2 Steelers-Browns contest in the 2023 season. It was the same knee he hurt in his sophomore season of college while with the Georgia Bulldogs.
Now, in a conversation with three-time Pro Bowler and co-host Eric Metcalf, The Dawg Check podcast's Max Loeb has revealed that he believes Chubb has a decent shot at some major end-of-year hardware.
"If you had to give one Browns player or coach... a future award to win next year, who are you picking and for what award?" Loeb asked. "If you had to nominate one Browns player to either be a finalist for or win the award, who are you taking?"
"If he comes back, I will say I don't think he's a shoo-in for Comeback Player of the Year," Loeb initially cautioned. "That's not fair to any anybody else making a comeback. But I like that. I'm going to throw his name in there for offensive player of the year, too, though I think it's hard for a running back to win MVP."
"But Offensive Player of the Year, I think [if] Nick Chubb comes back, is healthy, produces well in that offense, I think he's going to be in there," he adds. "I think we're going to see at least somewhat the Nick Chubb of old next year, and I'm very excited for it."
Thus far in his pro career, the 5'11", 227-pound All-Pro has logged 6,511 rushing yards and 1,011 receiving yards, 48 rushing touchdowns and four receiving touchdowns.
Even without Chubb (or $230 million quarterback Deshaun Watson) for much of the season, Cleveland finished with an 11-6 record and a Wild Card appearance, before falling 45-14 to the Houston Texans in that Wild Card bout. A revived Joe Flacco helped stabilize the signal caller role after Watson went down.
