Former Charger Lorenzo Neal Says Jim Harbaugh Will Turn Justin Herbert Into "Bully"

Matt "Money" Smith and former Chargers RB Lorenzo Neal discuss the element of Justin Herbert that has been missing.

The Los Angeles Chargers got the biggest hire in Jim Harbaugh, who is a proven winner. He has been instrumental in changing the toughness and mindset of players and teams that he has led.

Matt "Money Smith" and former Chargers RB Lorenzo Neal discussed the "Harbaugh Effect" and how he can change Justin Herbert.

"Buffalo didn't play great, but they had a quarterback. Minnesota had a quarterback to carry. I mean, we look at Minnesota Cousins getting hurt. They still had a limping chance. You look at the teams that usually get in that are fighting for the team may not be great, but they get in because of the quarterback you had and the Chargers didn't get in."

"They don't have their out. But you think about when you have a guy of that ilk, especially at the quarterback position, you usually try to find your way. And that's what Harbaugh is going to do because the mentality of building a bully is coming to L.A. And I'm telling you, Matt, you know it and I know it. You're getting ready to change the way people view the Chargers because the change of play."

Harbaugh has led plenty of bully teams. The 2011-2014 San Francisco 49ers were one of the most defensively and offensively sound teams. Harbaugh coached up the likes of Colin Kaepernick and Alex Smith.

The Chargers have Justin Herbert, who is arguably a much better passer than the aforementioned signal callers. However, Herbert doesn't appear to have the right kind of toughness.

That's not to say that he is not tough, but he will need to be more bullish to hang with the likes of Josh Allen from the Bills and Kirk Cousins from Minnesota.

The "bully" mentality is something that the Chargers have been missing, and Harbaugh can turn them into one of the toughest teams in the AFC.
