Jesse Holley on Cowboys Not Doing Enough in Free Agency, "Everyone Around You is Getting Better"

Jesse Holley breaks down how the Cowboys not doing enough in free agency could be dooming them.

NFL Free Agency has kicked off in the wildest way possible, especially for the NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders will all battle it out with brand-new looks on both sides of the ball.

The Dallas Cowboys, however, have been quite dormant this free agency. They could be plenty happy with the current roster, but it could also be the tricky contract situations that the front office has given its coaches and players that could be messing with the team's ability to land big-name agents.

Their slow start to free agency is something that should worry most fans and former Cowboys WR Jesse Holley breaks down how every team around Dallas is getting better on Bleav in the Dallas Cowboys.

"And so what you now require is you require guys to either be completely washed or draft picks. And that's a dangerous proposition in that you want to be you want to be faced with. all the while everyone around you is getting better too."

The Cowboys deciding to stay quiet in free agency is dangerous, as the current roster is the one they will presumably take into the 2024 season. The result of that season was an early playoff exit.

Holley is also indicating that the teams around the Cowboys, meaning the Commanders, Giants, and Eagles have all gotten better. That also includes the NFC playoff hopefuls like the Detroit Lions.

"So like that's going to be another thing. I'm not saying that the Washington commanders are going to be world-beaters next year. They'll be better, right? Like, I'm not saying that Philadelphia is going to be world beaters next year, but they're doing the things that they possibly can to get better as is whatever you want to call that, the Giants, whatever. But there's still other teams in the division that we still have to worry about. The Lions are here right?"

The Commanders picked up RB Austin Ekeler from the Chargers and LB Bobby Wagner from the Seahawks. Both will elevate the positions immediately. The Eagles landed a big signing in perennial RB Saquon Barkley from the Giants, and the Giants secured DE Brian Burns from the Panthers.

The Lions were already a good team last season too, and they are likely to be much better. They signed DJ Reader, who should boost the team.

The Cowboys sleeping on free agency moves is only going to make it harder for them to compete in the NFC playoff race next season.
