Joe DeLeone: Aaron Donald Could Elevate Penn State's Adisa Isaac

Joe DeLeone of Bleav in Rams says the Rams' potential second-round draft pick, Adisa Isaac, could benefit from being alongside superstar interior defensive lineman Aaron Donald.
In this story:

The Los Angeles Rams hold a first-round draft pick this year. Those words have not been uttered in eight years since the Rams last had a first-round pick in 2016.

This year, that has all changed. However, even in past drafts, the Rams have been able to capitalize without a first-round draft pick. The organization has found gems in the later rounds, and they'll look to do the same this year.

Although their first pick is crucial, their other picks will be just as important. The experts of Bleav in Rams chose Penn State defensive end Adisa Isaac as their pick for the Rams' second-round draft pick. In the latest episode, Joe DeLeone went with Isaac because he thinks he could benefit the most from the Aaron Donald effect.

"Yeah, I think the ability to grab one of these top edge guys that early on in the second round, and Isaac's not going to be the type of a player that's going to step in and be a 15-sack guy. You're getting him in the second round, but he feels like a Los Angeles Ram. Knowing that Aaron Donald has been a player who has boosted the production of other guys on the defensive line in the defensive line room because he diverts too."

"And sometimes, you know, it happens very rarely. But we've seen three blockers try to handle Aaron Donald at one. So someone like Isaac, who's athletic, who's long, could end up benefiting, having a productive first season, just like we saw early this year from some of those young defensive linemen."

We've seen many players throughout the years benefit from Donald being the focal point and have gotten paid big money because of it.

Last season, we saw rookie Kobie Turner benefit from the Donald effect, and the same could happen to someone like Isaac.

Bleav Rams' co-host Ryan Robert says Isaac is the right pick for Los Angeles in the second round.

"I'm going to go with Adisa Isaac just simply because I feel like the edge position lacks a little bit of depth in this class. I do like the top. I do like the depth at the very top of it. But I think when we start talking about that next tier of Adisa Isaac's and that brand of football player, I think that it does start to dry up a little bit, and I'm just in my mind envisioning Aaron Donald, Kobie Turner, Byron Young and Adisa Isaac working together and I think that could do a lot of great things."

If youngsters like Young and Turner take a jump in their sophomore season, Isaac could have a strong rookie year if the Rams decide to take a shot at him.
