Jonathan Stewart on People Unfairly Rating Oregon's Bo Nix, "People Are Straight-Up Haters"
The world is awaiting the 2024 NFL Draft, simply because there is plenty of star QB quality that should enter the pros. From USC's Caleb Williams to LSU's Jayden Daniels, there will be quite a few QBs taken in the first round of the draft.
The talk of the town is Williams, Daniels, and UNC's Drake Maye. Even J.J. McCarthy is being talked about as a high draft pick. Strangely, many believe Oregon's Bo Nix should not be among these QBs. While it could be because Nix is a polarizing character, former Duck and NFL running back Jonathan Stewart believes it's because people are just hating on the young QB.
"It feels like Bo Nixis one of the most polarizing clubs in this draft class. I mean, I was just at his pro day at Oregon earlier today in Eugene and he was great. He made all the throws, he made short throws, long throws, intermediate throws. He had zip on the ball. He was accurate. He was on the move. He was dodging people that were coming at him. When you look at reviews from actual NFL analysts and people who we largely trust in this industry, they rave about him and they rave about his abilities. Then you go on social media and he gets nothing but hate from a large portion of the audience, people saying that he checks down too much, he doesn't throw the deep ball, it's not accurate."

Sco-ing Long co-host Zachary Neel questions why Nix continues to get slammed on social media, despite his ability to make all his throws. The truth is that analysts are seeing that Nix could be a viable starter, but he appears to get hate from a large swath of the audience online.
Granted, people on the internet are often very critical of anything and everything, but is there some truth to what they are viewing as Nix's capabilities?
"People are straight-up haters. That's why they're mad that he's in a situation that not many people have been you know, he's yes, he's an older player, but that means he knows ball. He knows how to play quarterback. He knows how to play the position. He's played it and gotten reps, count college as reps. That's how I see it. Social media is, take it with a grain of salt at the end of the day. Right? So my view on Bo Nix is he has a IT factor and when I say the ITfactor, he has the ability to extend plays, he has the ability to make things happen when they show when a defense shows that there's nothing there, he understands when to roll out of the pocket and he has the athleticism to throw across his body like the Patrick Mahomes throws to make accurate, miraculous throws and catchable balls."

Stewart could be right that Nix will be a good QB in the NFL, but comparing him to Patrick Mahomes might be premature. Either way, time will tell if Nix has what it takes to be a day-one starter.
