Anthony Richardson was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Coming out of the University of Florida, the 6’4 phenom was considered the best all-around athlete at the QB position, with the ability to score with his legs and pass with his cannon of an arm. During Week 5 of his rookie campaign last year, he suffered a season-ending injury to his throwing shoulder, although he will be ready to go for a strong sophomore campaign.

Former Wisconsin running back, Jonathan Taylor, joins the Bleav in Badgers podcast to discuss his own experiences as a young gun entering the NFL. Taylor expresses how he has always had an older role model at the helm in his first few NFL years to teach him the ropes. In a similar fashion, Taylor also describes how he has looked out for Anthony Richardson in his young career, acting as a mentor for him.

Taylor dives deeper into his reflection as he acknowledges that this is the first time there has been a younger top talent on the team than him. With the roles reversed now, Taylor is looking for all the aspects he can to make Richardson’s life as easy as possible. Taylor further describes how Philip Rivers was that mentor for him that he grew and learned from, in anticipation that Taylor will be that guy for Richardson.

In the ever-evolving landscape of the NFL, veteran guidance proves invaluable for young talents. Jonathan Taylor's mentorship of Anthony Richardson portrays the wisdom and responsibility that is carried upon him, sharing experiences that could propel the Colts' future. As Anthony Richardson prepares for year two of his NFL journey, Taylor's seasoned influences may well shape the franchise’s potential into success.
