Phil Simms Reacts to Kirk Cousins Landing With Falcons, "He's Tough, He Can Make All the Throws"

Phil Simms reacts to Kirk Cousins landing with the Atlanta Falcons.

NFL Free Agency is here, and it has been a whirlwind first day. From Josh Jacobs landing with the Packers to Saquon Barkley becoming an Eagle, highly-rated free agents have been on the move.

One of the biggest of the day is former Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins, who now has a new home. The Pro Bowl signal caller will now helm the Atlanta Falcons, and he secured a $180 million that includes $100 million guaranteed. Simms Complete has now given their thoughts, with Phil Simms singing Cousins praise.

"I really paid attention to it at first when the off-season started...'Kirk cousins to Atlanta? That's not going to happen.' Then Raheem Morris gets signs there's a head coach, Zac Robinson like you said passing game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams. So what do they do? They do the same thing that Kevin O'Connell does up at Minnesota. And of course, he came from the Rams also."

Simms understands that Raheem Morris and Zac Robinson coming over to the Falcons together means they need to be on the same page. There is no better way than to go get a QB that mimics the system they used while on the Rams.

Cousins is the type of gunslinger that Matthew Stafford is, and they can build the offense around him to completely flourish.

"Here's two plays, call them both in the huddle and pick out which one at the line of scrimmage. It's a lot and Kirk Cousins did that and we know that Matt Stafford was always doing that with the Rams right? But the last second always, you know, panicking before the play clock goes down and Kirk Cousins handles that as well as anybody I've ever seen in the NFL. And yes, he did finally get some credit this past year. He's tough. He can hang in the pocket. He can make all the throws. He's he is an aggressive thrower, too."

Plenty of people have stated that Cousins is a "system" QB who cannot lead his team to the promised land, but he is one of the best passers in the league. The Vikings may have not used him to the best of his abilities.

Robinson and Morris could transform Cousins into a heavily feared NFC QB, especially with weapons like Drake London, Bijan Robinson, and Kyle Pitts.
