Ravens' Dominant Defense: A Reflection of the 'Baltimore Ravens' Mentality
The Ravens have the top-ranked defenses in the NFL and are starting to remind people that they are still the same old Baltimore Ravens. Former tight end Daniel Wilcox talked about how he has seen his former teams’ young players take over the tradition established by the greats before them.
“I think the Ravens defense has finally stepped into their own. I think they are starting to own that play like a Raven mentality, and they are starting to show people week in and week out that they are still the Baltimore Ravens without a Ray Lewis, Ed Reed or Terrell Suggs,” said Wilcox. “There is a whole new crop of guys that are saying we are that new wave you guys are gonna talk about for the next ten to fifteen years.”
The Ravens are first in the league, allowing the least amount of points per game to their opponents (16.1). The Ravens have an impressive young core with Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith, and Marlon Humphrey, to name a few. They are currently a 5.5-point underdog against the 49ers on Monday Night Football according to BetOnline.
