Simms: Lamar Jackson is a game changer and a game manager
Though it is not official, Lamar Jackson all but locked up his second NFL MVP Award with his play during the 2023 regular season. Matt Simms and his father, Phil Simms, talked about what makes the Ravens quarterback such a unique player with the football on the newest edition of Simms Complete.
"Why throw into a tight crowd when I just might scramble and buy some more time," said Phil Simms. "I have watched him closely, and he is not a risky thrower."
What is remarkable about Jackson is that even though he is not labeled a prolific passer, he threw for 24 touchdown passes and only seven interceptions this year. Rather than taking chances with the football, Jackson has the ability to keep plays alive.
"He is one of the few game-changing players that also is a game manager at the same time. He really does blend the worlds very well," said Matt Simms.
Baltimore will face Kansas City on Sunday in the AFC Championship game as Lamar Jackson looks to make his first Super Bowl appearance. The Ravens are four-point favorites over Kansas City this weekend, according to BetOnline.
