Jeremy Roenick: Get Ready For The Chirps From Patrick Roy

Roenick knows from his playing days that Roy will be a tough coach to play for in New York and says he will get on his team if they do not play up to par.

Patrick Roy is now the head coach of the Islanders after taking over for Lane Lambert, who was fired last week. During his long NHL career, Roy racked up 551 wins and four Stanley Cups as a goaltender. Jeremy Roenick clashed with Roy throughout their time on the ice and talked about what it would be like playing for Roy on a recent Snipes and Stripes podcast episode.

"I love that Patrick Roy is back in the league. I have a lot of respect for him, and I also hated playing against him because he was frustrating, but I scored a lot of goals against him. He was a yapper; he would always yap at me in the games," said Roenick. "He is going to be a tough coach to play for in the island."

Roy had a 130-92 record as coach of the Avalanche from 2012-2016. New York is currently fifth in the Metropolitan Division, and it would take a quick turnaround if they want to catch the teams ahead of them. The Islanders are slight underdogs against the Panthers on Saturday, according to BetOnline.
