A cryptic press release arrived in inboxes Thursday morning stating that a "MAJOR" event is set to be announced at Target Center in Minneapolis next week.

We can assume that said event involves sports, as the announcement will be made by Minnesota Sports and Events (MNSE), the regional sports commission for Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Bloomington.

And we can also speculate that the event will involve either college sports or the Olympics, as MNSE has previously been credited with securing the 2024 Big Ten Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, 2024 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Frozen Four, 2025 NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Frozen Four, and the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games.

The MNSE describes its mission as to bring "significant economic, reputational, and social impact to the region through the attraction, promotion, and execution of world-class events."

The announcement will be made at a press conference on Tuesday, June 13, at Target Center.

Let the speculation begin!
