There appears to be no one capable of standing in the way of Gophers national champion wrestler Gable Steveson, who has obliterated three opponents in succession en route to the gold medal match at the Tokyo Olympics.

Steveson, the Apple Valley 21-year-old who appears bound for superstardom, smashed Aiaal Lazerev of Kyrgyzstan in his Olympic debut with a 10-0 victory via technical superiority in a blistering-fast 2 minutes and 2 seconds.

Thirty minutes later Steveson faced the reigning gold medal winning and two-time world champ, Taha Akgul, of Turkey. But again, it was a shutout win for Steveson, took down Akgul numerous times to cruise to an 8-0 victory.

In the semifinals, Steveson met Lkhagvagerel Munkhtur of Mongolia, whom he again controlled with apparent ease for a 5-0 win.

If you're keeping score, that's Steveson with 23 points and zero for his opponents. And he's doing it on the world's biggest stage.

Steveson will face Geno Petriashvili, representing Georgia, in the 125-kilogram Olympic final at 4:15 a.m. Central Time Friday. Fans can watch it live on the Olympic Channel or NBCOlympics.com.
