Gophers add D2 All-American transfer Parker Fox
Former Minnesota prep star Parker Fox has returned to his home state where he'll play for the Golden Gophers. The 6-foot-8 forward is fresh off an All-American season at Division II Northern State University in South Dakota, and he announced Thursday that he's transferring to play for the Gophers.
Fox, who averaged 22.3 points and 9.9 rebounds as a junior, entered the NCAA transfer portal in March. He picked the Gophers over offers from Creighton, Dayton, Florida State, Ohio State, San Diego State, TCU and Vanderbilt, among others.
Fox finished 15th in the nation (among D2 players) in scoring last season, and 18th in rebounding. He also racked up 74 blocks, 80 dunks and shot 36% from three.
“First of all, I want to thank Northern State University and coach Paul Sather and then coach Saul Phillips for granting me the opportunity to play high-level Division II basketball,” Fox said in his announcement. “Obviously, I want to thank Aberdeen, South Dakota, for taking me in, but next year, I’m going to be attending the University of Golden Gophers. Go Golden Gophers!”
Fox is the fifth transfer to pick the Gophers since Ben Johnson was named head coach. He joins his former AAU teammate Sean Sutherlin (New Hampshire), Jamison Battle (George Washington), Luke Loewe (William & Mary) and E.J. Stephens (Lafayette).

According to the Star Tribune, the Gophers reached out to former Champlin Park star Theo John, but the 6-foot-9 Marquette starter announced Friday that he's headed for Duke.
