Gophers' Big Ten opponents for 2024 and 2025 seasons revealed
The Big Ten Conference has revealed the schedules for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the first to feature the newly added University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC).
The 2024 season will mark the first time the Big Ten will feature 16 teams and no divisional format, with the conference revealing on Thursday the launch of its "Flex Protect Plus" scheduling model, which will see each college "play nine intraconference games per season," and "every other conference opponent at least twice – once home and once away – in a four-year period."
There are 11 "protected matchups" that will continue to be played every year – the Minnesota Golden Gophers are involved in two of those: Minnesota–Wisconsin and Minnesota-Iowa.
What's more, the league has announced a series of "two-play" matchups beyond the "protected" games that will see two teams scheduled to meet in both 2024 and 2025, with Minnesota's two-play opponent being Nebraska.
The first Gophers game involving a new addition to the Big Ten will come in 2024 when Minnesota travels to UCLA. They will then host USC at home in 2025.
Here are the 2024 and 2025 schedules:
