The state of Minnesota will be heavily represented in this year's NCAA men's ice hockey tournament as five teams from the state made the 16-team field which was announced on Sunday night.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers lead the way as they earned the top seed in the Loveland Regional. While the Gophers will square off with Omaha in the opening round, they'll be joined by Minnesota State. The Mavericks earned the second seed and drew Quinnipac for their opening-round matchup.

St. Cloud State drew the second seed in the Albany Regional and will face Boston University in their opening matchup. Minnesota-Duluth earned the third seed in the Fargo regional and will face Michigan in the opening round and Bemidji State drew the fourth seed and a matchup with Wisconsin in the Bridgeport regional.

The Gophers joined the Badgers, North Dakota and Boston College as top seeds in the tournament, which will conclude on April 8-10 with the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh.
