Three good quarters wasn't enough to overcome one abysmal quarter as the Minnesota Lynx fell in the season opener 77-66 to the Chicago Sky Friday night.

The Lynx outscored the Sky by two points in the first quarter, one in the third quarter and by five in the fourth quarter, but they were thumped 22-3 in the second quarter.

The rough quarter put Minnesota in a 44-27 hole at the half and they weren't able to climb all the way out of it.

Napheesa Collier led the Lynx with 17 points and 4 blocks. Jessica Shepard had 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, while rookie Diamond Miller, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, finished her debut with 9 points and 7 rebounds.

Chicago scored 17 points off 20 Minnesota turnovers.

Up next: Lynx vs. Atlanta, Tuesday at 7 p.m.
