After strange delay, Wolves get smoked by Bucks at Target Center
Nothing went unblemished in the Wolves' 134-106 blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks Monday night at Target Center.
The game was scheduled to begin at 7:10 p.m., but a last-minute discovery of an uneven rim on one of the court led to a nearly hour-long delay. Target Center workers actually wheeled out an entirely new hoop to replace the existing one, but wound up being able to fix the original – but not until 49 minutes had passed before the game started at 7:59 p.m.
"The first thing that came to mind for me was back when prime Shaq was breaking backboards every other game," Bucks center Brook Lopez said, via ESPN.
Playing without Karl-Anthony Towns for a second straight game – the second of Towns' two-game suspension for fighting Philadelphia's Joel Embiid – the Wolves hung tough for a quarter and a half before the Bucks turn on the jets and dominated to a 28-point victory.
Giannis Antetokounmpo put on a show with 34 points, 15 rebounds and six assists to lead Milwaukee, with Khris Middelton scoring 26 and Eric Bledsoe stuffing the box score with 22 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
The Bucks shot 53.8% from the field to Minnesota's 35.9%.
Andrew Wiggins led the Wolves with 25 points, including 4-of-7 threes, but the Wolves got little offensive production from anyone else.
The Wolves get Towns back when they play Tyus Jones and the Grizzlies in Memphis on Wednesday.
