Anthony Edwards has a career night in Wolves' win over Trail Blazers
Minnesota Timberwolves scored a career-high 34 points on Sunday night to help score a 114-112 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Timberwolves got off to a sloppy start but recovered behind the play of Karl-Anthony Towns. The star center flirted with a triple-double on the evening with 13 points, eight rebounds and eight assists to help Minnesota take a four-point lead after the first quarter.
While the Timberwolves had the advantage early, they were plagued by turnovers and went into the locker room down 49-47 at halftime.
The second half belonged to the Timberwolves as their bench stepped up for the third straight games. Jaylen Nowell scored 14 points off the pine for Minnesota helped the Wolves take a lead into the fourth quarter.
The Timberwolves opened the fourth quarter on a 10-3 run and a slam by Edwards helped Minnesota take a 12-point lead with just over six minutes to go.
Damian Lillard helped Portland make its move with a game-high 38 points, but the Timberwolves held on down the stretch to take home the victory.
The Timberwolves improved to 9-30 on the season and will head west for a Tuesday night matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers.
